CHAMJE KHOLA – 2011

Chamje Khola traces the history of the opening of one of the largest canyon in the world. The Chamje canyon is located in the heart of the Nepalese Himalayas, between the Annapurna massifs, culminating at 8091m, and the 8th highest mountain in the world, Manaslu (8163m).

Starting in 2004, the HCT, opened about 30 canyons, but it was not until 2011 that they felt ready to face that monster of Chamje Khola. Its exploration is a massive 5-day feat, including a very tricky and snowy access in high altitude, for a canyon length of 7 kilometers and vertical drops amounting to 2300 meters in total.

The longest canyon race ever made at that time: 55h inside! Quotation: V7.A7.EX.
